With Cape Town being named as the 2014 Design Capital of the World, it’s clear that South Africans have exceptional design and craft skills. But with an unemployment rate of 25%, how do we ensure that local designers get the necessary exposure?
The InspireDesign campaign asked aspiring designers to submit designs for commercially viable products via our online microsite, giving them the chance to reach mainstream success.
The campaign also gave them the opportunity to have their worked reviewed by four industry leaders, and have their designs featured on TV, in national publications and across Samsung’s online channels.
The campaign generated over 10 500 000 social media impressions and we received nearly 11 000 online submissions. The eight winners’ work was showcased at Gallagher Estate for three days, giving these designers the much-needed exposure they need
